We have specially designed a limited edition inaugural Qixi Fest collectible ceramic cup and saucer set called 星河 — a play on words referring to both the Milky Way as well as the Singapore River. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of this collectible will go towards supporting Qixi Fest programmes and our commitment to make heritage accessible. More than 50% of Qixi Fest programmes are free to members of the public.

This limited edition set was conceptualised and designed by festival director Lynn Wong, with input from local heritage tea brand Pek Sin Choon. The sets are created in partnership with local ceramic artist Ng Yang Ce of Synceramic.

In this set, you will receive:

  • 1 cup and 1 saucer in a set, specially designed by Festival Director and partners of Qixi Fest, handmade by local ceramic artist Ng Yang Ce
  • Saucer is stamped with logo of the inaugural edition of Qixi Fest
  • Qixi Tea, a special blend for Qixi Fest by local heritage tea brand Pek Sin Choon (1 small pack of tea leaves)
  • Bespoke gift box

星河, carefully designed and crafted, is a unique cup and saucer set that aims to tell the story of a traditional folklore, and to commemorate the revival of the Qixi Festival in Singapore.

The special cup and saucer set are inspired by the shape of a magpie bird and the Milky Way respectively. The handle of the cup forms the magpie tail, with black-and-white plumage, a purplish-blue iridescent sheen to the wing feathers, and a green gloss to the tail. The curved plate is in a light blue shade.

The special design of the cup handle means you can form your own magpie bridge by purchasing two sets and positioning a pair of cups together!

As Singapore is also known as 星洲, the name of the set is also a homonym that refers to the Singapore River, and describes our excitment for the return of the magpies to Singapore for the revival of the Qixi Festival. By purchasing the set, you are helping us ensure the sustainability of Qixi Fest here in Singapore!
